The  history of the Taylor family living in the  hamlet village of Dore Derbyshire  (now Sheffield) is well documented and reveal’s them to have played many a part of the village life both socially and professionally. Census and parish recordsplace them there in the 16 th century and earlier.The family was associated with the local agriculture as farmers of thesurrounding land and makers of farming implements. These included such things as scythe‘s   and various other metal tooling.Before the industrial boom in the eighteenth century much of this work was carried out on there farms and cottages around the village and earned a second income. Employment. Generations of the family was later employed by Joshua Tyzack at the Abbeydale works from 1840 to 1933 and moving with the company when it later became W.Tyzack Sons and Turner Limited and relocated to Little London road. Sheffield right up to 1980, for a total of 150 years Entertainment The Dore brass band was formed around 1850 with Henry Taylor as the band leader.They played at most social events such as village festivals and have been depicted in a lot of Christmas postcards playing in the village centr FOOTBALL. During the 1930s. Eric Taylor was well renowned player for Dore village team in the Hope Valley League
